Terms of Service

Last updated: March 1, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Elovane (“the Service”), operated by Smart Technology Investments (“we,” “us,” or “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Elovane provides solar energy, battery storage, and heat pump return-on-investment analysis tools. The Service includes a web-based calculator, programmatic SEO pages with state and utility-level solar data, and educational blog content. The Service uses data from public sources including NREL, EIA, IRS, DSIRE, FRED, and BLS.

3. No Guarantee of Accuracy

The calculations, estimates, projections, and data provided by Elovane are for informational and educational purposes only. We make no guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Solar production estimates are based on statistical averages from NREL PVWatts and may not reflect your specific roof orientation, shading, equipment, or installation quality. Utility rate projections use historical escalation trends and do not predict future rates. Tax credit information reflects our understanding of current law but may contain errors or become outdated.

4. Not Financial or Tax Advice

Elovane is not a financial advisor, tax advisor, or licensed professional. The NPV calculations, LCOE comparisons, Monte Carlo simulations, and IRA credit analyses provided by the Service do not constitute financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, or any form of professional recommendation. You should consult a qualified financial advisor, tax professional, and/or licensed solar installer before making investment decisions based on information from this Service.

5. Data May Be Stale

The Service relies on external data sources that are updated on varying schedules:

  • Solar irradiance data (NREL PVWatts) — static baseline values
  • Utility electricity rates (EIA) — updated annually
  • Federal tax credits (IRS Section 25D) — updated as legislation changes
  • State and local incentives (DSIRE) — updated quarterly
  • System costs (NREL ATB, EnergySage) — updated quarterly
  • Interest rates (FRED) — updated daily
  • Inflation data (BLS CPI) — updated monthly

Between updates, displayed data may not reflect current market conditions, policy changes, or rate adjustments. Always verify critical data with primary sources before making financial decisions.

6. Consult a Professional

Before purchasing solar panels, battery storage systems, heat pumps, or other home electrification equipment, you should:

  • Obtain multiple quotes from licensed solar installers in your area
  • Consult a tax professional about your specific IRA credit eligibility and tax situation
  • Verify your utility’s current net metering policy and rate structure
  • Check local permitting requirements and HOA restrictions
  • Review your specific roof condition, orientation, and shading with a qualified installer

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Elovane and Smart Technology Investments shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total liability for any claims arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the Service (which, for the free tier, is $0).

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its calculation methodology, user interface, content, and underlying code, is the intellectual property of Smart Technology Investments. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our written permission. Data sourced from public government databases (NREL, EIA, IRS, BLS) remains in the public domain.

9. User Conduct

You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to interfere with the proper functioning of the Service; (c) circumvent any access controls or rate limits; (d) scrape or bulk-download data from the Service for commercial purposes; or (e) misrepresent the Service’s outputs as your own professional analysis.

10. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting to this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
